A message from Mr R Jones (Chair of Governors)
I was surprised (and somewhat disappointed) to find out that Ysgol Maesglas does not have an active Parent Teachers Association (PTA); and that the active involvement of parents in the day-to-day activities at the school is very limited to say the least.
My challenge to you the parents is to banish any apathy and cynicism and pull together to form an effective and active PTA.
I know that governors and teaching staff at the school would welcome this initiative, but it is firmly up to you the parents to organise one. As an example, any extra money raised by an active and effective PTA could be used to subsidise services and activities that we have been forced to withdraw or limit due to lack of available funds.
Your active involvement, in the form of a 'Friends of' committee is actively encouraged. There are many fund raising events that are currently arranged by the staff that an active PTA could take over and help raise much needed funds for the school.
Please express your interest to the School Secretary, who will coordinate details and put all interested parties in touch with each other.
Mr Cass, Headteacher
