On behalf of the governing body and all colleagues at Ysgol Maesglas I am pleased to offer you a warm welcome to your school.

All governors and colleagues at your school are focussed and committed to ensure that all children receive the best education, in a warm and welcoming environment, with all the necessary support to ensure that each child has the opportunity to shine.  This cannot be achieved without your support: the role of the parents is a crucial element in achieving this aim.

We work closely with the Local Education Authority (LEA) to ensure that we meet these aims.  We forge links with external bodies such as local Community Groups, High Schools, Colleges and Industry to enable all children to understand and explore the community that they are a part of and the opportunities that are available to them.  But, the most important of all links are the links between the school and you the parents.  We ask for your support in achieving our aims and we actively encourage your participation in the day-to-day life of the school.

We aim to get things right first time but, I’m sure that on occasions, we will get things wrong.  When this happens we welcome your comments or complains.  We will investigate them and we are committed to putting them right whenever we can.  Equally, when we get things right, we would welcome your comments and compliments.

In the present economic climate, one of the biggest challenges we face as a governing body is managing our budgets to ensure that the very best services are always offered to the children.  As parents, we would appreciate your support in ensuring that all monies owed to school are fully paid on time.

Ysgol Maesglas is a safe and forward thinking School where the education of the children is our main priority.  As a governing body, we want to be open and approachable to you the parents.  As chair of the governing body, I would be happy to meet with you to discuss any issues you may have concerning the school; also, whenever possible, at least one governor will be available to meet with you during parent evenings to discuss any concerns you may have.

Finally, thank you for your support and for placing your child at Ysgol Maesglas.  We look forward to working closely with you throughout your child’s progress through our school.

Rodney Jones
