Ysgol Maesglas first to achieve Investors in Families Quality Mark in North Wales
The staff and families at Ysgol Maesglas are celebrating the fact that they have become the first school in Flintshire to achieve the Investors in Families quality mark. The award (full details are available at http://www.uwtsd.ac.uk/wcee/investors-in-families/) is made to schools that are committed to working with the whole family to improve outcomes for children. Schools have to collect evidence to show how well they are working with families and that they are family friendly. One aspect of the accreditation visit that stood out was the fact that the school had created teams of staff and families to develop the evidence for each of the assessment criteria which demonstrated that the school truly sees families as partners. Gavin Cass, Head Teacher said: I am immensely proud that we are the first school in North Wales to receive the accolade. The IIF award gives us recognition for our continued great work with families and our community. Close working relationships between the school and families is essential to the success of all our learners. Thank you to all of our families for the continued support. Mrs Wendy Dawson, Chair of Governors said: Speaking on behalf of the governing body we are delighted that we have achieved the Investors in Families Award. We are firmly committed to working in partnership with our families. I would also like to thank all of our staff who always work above and beyond. Chris Waterman, Executive Director of IIF said: We are delighted to recognise the continuing commitment of the team at Ysgol Maesglas to the quality mark. The Investors in Families process is a very good way of auditing work with families to improve outcomes for children. One of the keys to success is working with other schools and sharing ideas about how to engage families and we look forward to supporting the school as it continues to develop this important area.
