Mrs Hughes is working with a group of 10 children in school and they are our one worlders.
One World is an international character building program that generates civic commitment to school, local, national and global communities. Our club will hopefully develop a network of globally aware youth leaders of character; knowledgeable of the world around them and capable of changing it for the better. The children have developed :-Core Values
They are also looking at how they can help with poverty. They have invested a small amount of money into a small farm in Columbia. The farmer can buy more seeds to grow his crop. When he has harvested his crop and makes a profit we will get that money back. The children will then reinvest it into another small business in a different part of the world. The children were left shocked and upset when they realised how the farmer lived in poverty. They were really thoughtful and inspired to help. They also realised that they were actually really well off compared to others and should really stop moaning about not having the latest iPhone. I am sure you will agree that this is fantastic work. Thanks to all our One Worlders and Mrs Hughes. You a really making a difference. What a busy week with so much going on.
We had the Gym competition on Wednesday. The team did a great job and managed to get 1st place in the silver category. A special mention for Niamh who got a silver medal for her individual performance. 9 of our junior office assistants travelled to Wrexham for customer service training with Rossett. They are a real credit to school and have plenty of new skills that they can put to good use when working in the office. Friends of Maesglas had a Christmas Craft night. There was plenty of glitter and glue around and it looked like everyone had a great time. Thanks to everyone that gave time to help with the evening. Yr 1 and Yr 2 had a superhero day. They all looked the part. It was funny doing assembly with superheroes looking back at me. Yr 1 and Yr 2 took part in a football competition playing 5 games this morning. I have lost my voice from cheering them on. We had a great morning and I was really pleased with the effort they put in. Thanks to the parents that made it to support us and thanks to Clare for helping with transport. The choir took part in the Christmas Lights switch on this evening. I hope it went well. Thanks to all the staff that supported them this evening and thanks to everyone that helped out on the stall. http://www.surveymonkey.com/stories/SM-S63HT8L8/

www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/9WR8BXX I can't thank you all enough for your generosity again. I am very aware that we are coming up to a very expensive time of year but you still managed to raise £200 for Children in Need.
We still have a few bits coming in so I will update you as soon as we know the final figure. Thanks again. www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/9WR8BXX
I would really appreciate it if you could follow or copy the above link into your web browser to open the questionnaire. There are only 10 questions and it should take about 3 mins to complete. We are always striving to improve and I am really interested to know what you think. Many thanks Just a reminder that we are supporting Children in Need on Friday by going spotty.
If you could send in a donation for the non uniform day it would be much appreciated. |
