We have had some great news today about the Cardiff trip. Mrs Lloyd took a call from Techniquest to let her know that they will be having a special visitor when our children visit. The children will all get to meet Tim Peake and be part of a Question and Answer session (if they can beat Mrs Lloyd to the front of the line).
A fantastic opportunity, I wish I was going on the Cardiff trip! It was fantastic to see so many people in school this morning. You have all managed to raise £400.16, so far, for Macmillan.
My sincere thanks to everyone that donated, made cakes and to everyone that could come. #teammaesglas We have our Young Savers bank open every Wednesday morning from 8.30am. If you are interested in opening an account call in at the office for more information.
Please note the change of time for the Coffee morning tomorrow. It is a 10am.
Many thanks for the donations so far. It is not too late to bring in any cakes, biscuits etc in the morning. Choir and Rugby club had very low attendance this week with 7 in choir and 8 in rugby. It would be great if we could have more people attending next week.
Please let us know if your child is not going to attend. The Children had a great morning taking part in a circuit with Team GB gymnast and Olympian Marissa King. After the circuit all the children watched Marissa demonstrate her skills and listen to her talk about the life of an athlete.
The children who raised the most sponsor money had time to talk with Marissa and get a personalised photo. Many of our gymnasts enjoyed showing off some of their skills and I am sure were inspired to meet a real life Olympian. Thanks once again for your generous sponsorship and donations. We are splitting the money between classes for them to buy resources to go with their new topics. Watch this space and each class will tell you what they decided to buy. One of our main targets from Estyn is to improve our attendance. You can help.
If your child is ill or absent for any other reason, contact the school on the first day of absence. Make sure your child arrives at school on time. Take an interest in your child’s education. Ask them about their day and praise and encourage their achievements at school. Attending 4 ½ days a week = 90% attendance = 4 weeks missed per year Attending 4 days a week = 80% attendance = more than half a term missed per year or 2 full years missed over the course of their school career Attending 3 ½ days each week = 70% attendance = more than a quarter of the school year missed. We all want our children to get on well in life. Nowadays, it is more important than ever to have a good education behind you if you want opportunities in adult life. Children only get one chance at school, and your child’s chances of a successful future may be affected by not attending school regularly. If children do not attend school regularly they may: struggle to keep up with school work. They will miss out on the social side of school life. Poor attendance can affect children’s ability to make and keep friendships; a vital part of growing up. Setting good attendance patterns from an early age, from nursery classes through primary school, will also help your child later on. Employers want to recruit people who are reliable. So children who have a poor school attendance record may have less chance of getting a good job. Here are the attendance figures for this week. Our whole school figure is 95.88% Miss Coppack 99.13% Mrs Lloyd 92.17% Miss Jones 98.93% Mrs Pearce 96% Miss Williams 96% Mrs Hughes 98.52% Mrs Seenan 95% Mr Williams 96.55% Well done to all the children in Miss Coppack's Class. This weeks winners. #everyday counts #no wasted days See if we can beat this next week. Yet again you have all done a fantastic job and are so generous. We really appreciate it.
The sponsor money total so far is an amazing £721. We will add this to the non uniform total on Monday. A special mention to Ellis who brought in £100! We will post plenty of pictures on Monday from the Sport For Champions event. My sincere thanks once again. #teammaesglas Please join us for our Macmillan coffee morning on Friday 30th September from 9am.
If you could donate any cakes, buns or biscuits it would be very much appreciated. |
